5 Valuable Packing Tips For Your Move
Have you found your new home? That means moving! And so pack
all the things that go with you well. So what's the smartest way to do this?
1. Start packing the moving boxes on time
People frequently underestimate how long it takes to pack.
To avoid stress, we recommend you start packing things you do not use in daily
life well in advance. For example, start with the attic, basement or garage.
You can also clear the shed quite a bit. You can already sort out, clean up,
dispose of (donate to a good cause), or pack everything that you do not use on a
daily basis.
2. Order moving boxes
Make sure you have enough moving boxes at home, but how many
do you need? For a single-person household, you should count on approximately
80 moving boxes. For a two-person household, you have to take into account
about 120 moving boxes. A family with two children needs about 150 moving boxes
to pack all their belongings.
3. Bringing protective packaging materials at home
Moving is easier and takes less time if you use good protective
packaging materials. Think of material such as a wardrobe box to easily
pack your hanging clothes. Also, think of special chilled
packaging boxes, for example, for food or medicines. It is best to
order these online. Click here to order protective packaging online.
Professional moving boxes are much sturdier than moving boxes from the local
hardware store.
4. Packing the crockery
Pack crockery using wrapping paper. On the bottom of the
moving box, place a layer of airy wads of wrapping paper. Use one sheet of
sturdy moving paper per glass or plate. The larger the sheets of wrapping paper
are, the easier it is to wrap. Place plates and glasses upright in the moving
box. When the box is full, tuck a few more airy wads of wrapping paper in
between. This prevents the glassware from moving. Do not use newspapers; they
will stain the glassware.
5. Make use of a packing service
Is packing moving boxes taking too long, or are you
physically unable to do so? Then, outsource it to a company that specializes in
it. Most movers provide packing services. For them, this is a routine task.
There is less possibility of something becoming damaged because they complete
it fast and conveniently. Some moving firms provide the option of packing some
of your household goods. Consider glassware, ceramics, and other delicate
objects. You can then decide what you want to handle yourself and what you want
to leave to the moving company.
